The group as part of its direct participation in the conservation process has initiated a series of projects involving a co-ordinated partnership between the people, the Goverment of Goa and the corporate sector. These include
- Revitalization of Fontainhas
A project that seeks to conserve one of the most important heritage precinct of Goa by revitalizing it through the infusion of select economic activity that will accrue benefits to its residents. Architects Raya Shankhwalker, Rajiv D’Silva and Jimmy Devasia cobbled the report together with measured drawings, photographs and ideas.
- Listing of Heritage Buildings in Panaji
To save monuments you have to first know what you have in stock. The group started listing Panaji’s tangible properties in October 2000, upgraded the same list in 2003 and published the list with photographs in the same year in collaboration with the Corporation of the City ofPanaji. The book is titled “Walking In & Around Panaji,Goa” and has sold 1000 copies. The research was supported by INTACH and the Government of Goa.
- Listing of Heritage Buildings in and around major cities
Following the success of the Panaji list, the cities of Margao, Mapusa and Vasco were listed along with the satellite villages of Assagao, Guirim, Parra, Loutolim and Raia.
- Listing of Heritage Buildings in coastal Goa
With the support of INTACH and the Ministry of Archives & Archaeology, Government of Goa the group is able to list heritage properties and sites in the coastal villages of Goa. All these lists, with photographs are available in hard copy from our group’s office in Porvorim or on line on request.
